The FBI announced the arrest of a 29-year-old Minnesota man accused of “putting out a hit” on Attorney General Pam Bondi.
On October 16, Tyler Maxon Avalos was detained after a TikTok user alerted authorities that Avalos had put out a “threatening post” with a photo of Pam Bondi that said, “WANTED: Pam Bondi / REWARD: 45,000 DEAD OR ALIVE (PREFERABLY DEAD).”
Under the image, the court filings said he added: “Cough cough. When they don’t serve us, then what?”
Avalos’ TikTok page also allegedly had a link to an Anarchist FAQ book pinned to his page and the username “Wacko” with an anarchist symbol in place of the “a.”
Prosecutors are describing it as a “murder for hire” plot targeting Pam Bondi.
Avalos has history of violence and prior convictions listed in the court filing, including “a multistate conviction history including a July 2022 felony stalking conviction from Dakota County, an August 2016 felony third-degree domestic battery from Polk County, Florida, and an April 2016 misdemeanor domestic assault from Dakota County, which appears to have been reduced from a felony domestic assault by strangulation charge.”
Avalos’ attorney of record, Daniel Gerdts told Law & Crime that he had “no comment, except to note that” his client “is not guilty of any crime.”
The documents state that Avalos was charged with “knowingly transmitting, in interstate and foreign commerce, communications consisting of an online post containing a threat to injure the person of another, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 875).”
According to Law & Crime, “court documents from Wednesday additionally showed that U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko granted Avalos a release from custody, subject to various conditions including no travel outside of Minnesota, continuing mental health treatment, no possession of weapons, no consumption of alcohol, a curfew, GPS monitoring, and no internet access without approval.”
