Harvey Weinstein Says Gwyneth Paltrow ‘Stabbed’ Him in the Back by Making Sexual Harassment Allegations
Former film producer Harvey Weinstein has given his first interview since serving time in prison, and he’s accusing Gywneth Paltrow of stabbing him in the back.
Weinstein, who founded Miramax and The Weinstein Company, was first accused by over 80 women in Hollywood of sexual assault and rape in October 2017, PEOPLE reported. A New York jury found him guilty on two counts of criminal sexual assault, but not guilty on three other charges, which included predatory sexual assault, the piece continued.
But since then, Weinstein has stayed relatively mum as he’s stayed behind bars at Rikers. That all changed on Tuesday, when a bombshell interview with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Maer Roshan shared a series of revealing chats with Weinstein, who is confined to his cell for 23 hours a day due to safety concerns. He also has tremendous health issues, ranging from diabetes and a heart operation to cancer and spinal stenosis, which keeps him in a wheelchair. But one topic that Weinstein didn’t stay quiet on is Paltrow, who starred in Miramax’s Oscar-winning hit Shakespeare in Love.
What Does Weinstein Have to Say About Gwyneth Paltrow?
Paltrow previously accused Weinstein of sexual harassment in a 2017 New York Times piece. At the time, her then-fiancé, Brad Pitt, famously threatened Weinstein after he learned Weinstein had sexually harassed her. Recalling the moment in the Reporter interview, Weinstein said she “stabbed him in the back.”
“Because she was a good friend of mine. I don’t know what drove her to do what she did. To make such a big deal over nothing. I walked out of a nice meeting with her and said, ‘How about a massage?’ And she just went, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ I got the message. I never put my hands on her. She told Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt came to me and said, ‘Don’t do anything like that with my girl.’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, Brad. I got it.’ But then Gwyneth goes on Howard Stern and The New York Times and makes a big deal about it all. She knows that nothing happened. But this person who was a friend, who owes her career to me, just stabs me in the back. She wanted to be part of the crowd. I won’t forgive her for that,” Weinstein shared.
Weinstein later went on to say that “I’m just going to say Rosanna Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie — they just exaggerated. They wanted to be part of the club. And they destroyed me.”
Paltrow has not yet responded to Weinstein’s statements in the Reporter interview.
