Maxx Crosby posts farewell to Raiders organization: ‘I feel like I let y’all down’
Maxx Crosby posted a 13-minute farewell to the Las Vegas Raiders organization and fans on social media Saturday, saying at one point that he let the fan base down by not delivering a championship during his time with the team.
The video came a day after news emerged that Crosby, 28, a two-time second-team All-Pro edge rusher, had been traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round draft picks (2026 and 2027).
A fan favorite and franchise cornerstone for much of his seven seasons with the team, Crosby delivered an emotional address to the fans.
“Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve had one goal and one mission,” Crosby said. “That’s become the best version of myself and help bring a championship back to the Raider organization. I feel like I left everything I had on the table for this team. I’ve given my heart and soul, and I feel like I let y’all down.”
Drafted in the fourth round in 2019 out of Eastern Michigan, Crosby became a Pro Bowler by 2021, the first of five such selections. He quickly became a mainstay for the franchise, recording 69 1/2 sacks over seven seasons, including four double-digit sack seasons. He has the sixth-most sacks in the NFL in that span and is third in franchise history in sacks. Despite his individual success, however, the Raiders reached the postseason only once.
The Raiders went 46-71 in Crosby’s tenure, and posted just one winning season at 10-7 in 2021.
“One thing I could say above all else is that I gave y’all everything I got, and I have no regrets about that,” Crosby said. “I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”
Among many thank-yous offered to people around the franchise, Crosby was especially thankful to Raiders owner Mark Davis. He expressed particular thanks for how Davis handled things after Crosby’s rookie season, when he had to check into a rehab facility for severe alcohol addiction.
Crosby explained how supported he felt by the organization and Davis during what was his “lowest point.”
“(Davis) allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them and grow from them,” Crosby said. “I’ll never forget having to check myself into rehab after my rookie season at my lowest point, and the Raider organization supported me throughout all of that. I can’t thank them enough for that, because without them, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to make it through that.”
In March 2025, Las Vegas signed Crosby to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension, including $91.5 million in guarantees, at the time making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
There had been rumors of a rift between Crosby and Davis in 2023 when Crosby, speaking on his podcast, said he would request a trade if interim head coach Antonio Pierce wasn’t hired as permanent head coach. Pierce lasted a season before Pete Carroll was brought in ahead of 2025. In the last two seasons, the Raiders had a 7-27 record.
In the midst of a 3-14 season in 2025, Crosby was shut down after Week 16 for a knee injury the team said he had been playing through. Shortly after, Crosby posted several videos of himself on social media engaged in physical activities that suggested he was healthy enough to play.
“I never thought I’d be in this position,” Crosby said. “I never thought I’d be going anywhere else, truly. But God works in mysterious ways. I didn’t plan on things to be like this. But things happen for a reason. I truly believe that, and the one thing about it is I have zero ill will towards that organization in any way. I want them to have all the success in the world.”
Crosby expressed his excitement to now turn his maniacal football passion toward Baltimore, joining new head coach Jesse Minter in ushering in a new era after John Harbaugh’s 18-season tenure in charge. The man known for playing with his heart on his sleeve joins a defensive-minded head coach in a city known for its legendarily outgoing defensive stars.
For him, the jersey changes, but the goal has not.
“Flock Nation, everybody in the whole city of Baltimore, I got a lot to learn,” Crosby said. “Everything is going to be new to me. I’m excited and attacking this head-on, like I do everything else. To the fans there, I’m not going to sit here and make a bunch of grand predictions and anything of that nature. I’m going there with one purpose, and that’s to help this team get to ultimately where it needs to be, and where everybody wants to go. And that’s winning the Super Bowl.”
