Sony shutters Bluepoint Games
Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games as of next month. The news was first shared by Bloomberg, which notes that 70 employees are facing layoffs at the studio—which is known for modern remakes of games like Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, alongside co-development duties on God of War Ragnarok.
A Sony company spokesperson confirmed the closure in a statement to Game Developer. They had this to say of the shutdown:
“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community. We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftmanship.”
Bluepoint was reportedly working on a live-service God of War title until its cancellation in January of 2025. The decision to close the studio was made “following a recent business review.”
