The biggest surprise at Texas’ second Michelin Guide ceremony came from a Dallas restaurant. On Oct. 28, 2025 in Houston, Dallas restaurant Mamani — open for less than two months — received a 1-star Michelin honor.
Let’s be more specific. Mamani has sold its version of French-Italian food in Dallas for just 48 days.
It seemed too new to be considered for a Michelin star in 2025, but a Michelin spokesperson confirmed to The Dallas Morning News that there is no cutoff date for the company’s anonymous restaurant critics to add restaurants to the list.
A shell-shocked executive chef Christophe De Lellis, along with Mamani owners Henry and Brandon Cohanim, climbed the stairs to the stage, accepting their shining Michelin star award, grinning.
Dallas-Fort Worth saw just one other Michelin star recipient at the 2025 ceremony: Deep Ellum restaurant Tatsu Dallas was honored with 1 star for its second consecutive year.
In Michelin’s second year critiquing Texas restaurants, the French restaurant review company shone special attention on its 1-star restaurants, which inherently took the spotlight off of the Recommended restaurants, which are less highly rated by Michelin’s anonymous critics.
There’s a simple explanation: Michelin is known for its 1-, 2- and 3-star honors. These are the best of the best — a level of culinary achievement few will reach. Let the stars shine, Michelin seemed to say during the Michelin Guide Texas ceremony in Houston on Oct. 28, 2025.
And shine they did: Chefs swapped their white coats for dresses and suits, sashaying through the Wortham Theater Center in Houston, wine glasses in hand.
Across the state, Michelin handed out 18 1-star awards — an increase from last year’s 15 Michelin starred restaurants.
As expected, no restaurant in Texas received a 2- or a 3-star award. That’s Michelin’s highest honor.
Seven Bib Gourmands were given to to Dallas-Fort Worth eateries with reasonably-priced menu items. The same seven received one last year, and no new restaurants were added as Bib recipients in 2025.
Across Texas, 140 restaurants were honored across 33 cuisines.
Restaurants honored in the Michelin Guide Texas 2025 in Dallas-Fort Worth are listed below.
Mamani: 1-star Michelin award
Open for just 48 dinners so far in Dallas, Mamani is certainly the newest Dallas-Fort Worth restaurant to make Michelin’s list. According to a Michelin spokesperson, there is no cutoff for a restaurant to be eligible for this year’s Guide in Texas, and thus, French-born chef Christophe De Lellis’ not-yet two-month-old restaurant made the cut. While De Lellis shrugged off his blazer for a white Michelin chef’s coat, it was noted inspectors were impressed by this “glitzy, well-appointed hot spot.” His menu is earnest and advanced at the same time, with homey gnocchi for $25 co-mingling with scallops and caviar for $45 and duck to share for $169. It’s impressive for De Lellis’ food to get noticed this quickly, though his pedigree proceeded him: He was the executive chef at Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas before making the leap to Texas.
Mamani is at 2681 Howell St., Dallas.
Tatsu Dallas: 1-star Michelin award
Nestled in a tidy space in one of Dallas’ oldest buildings is Tatsu Dallas, the tiny, refined omakase restaurant that was Dallas’ only 1-star Michelin recipient in 2024. Chef Tatsuya “Tatsu” Sekiguchi runs a quiet kitchen focused on 18 to 20 courses of mostly nigiri-style sushi that he hands to each guest, one by one. Sekiguchi is a fourth-generation sushi chef, but he’s the first in his family to earn a Michelin star.
Tatsu Dallas is at 3309 Elm St., Dallas.

Chas Martin, Mister Charles: Exceptional Cocktail Award
Flashy restaurant Mister Charles is like a postcard of Dallas: It’s beautiful and refined. Plus, it’s in the neighborhood of the moment, Dallas’ bustling Knox Street. The menu offers fancy versions of classics, like a one-bite starter of egg salad — but with caviar; a decadent plate of clams vongole; and beef wellington made of Texas Wagyu short rib. Last year, Michelin accidentally named Mister Charles’ sibling restaurant on its Recommended list before correcting its mistake. This year, Mister Charles was too bold and too brash to get forgotten. Michelin says this distinction awarded to Chas Martin, who is a co-owner of Duro Hospitality, “goes beyond the glass; it’s a journey for the senses,” according to Michelin’s definition of this special (and unexpected) award. Duro Hospitality owns five restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Mister Charles is at 3219 Knox St., Dallas.
Michelin Bib Gourmand winners in Dallas-Fort Worth
Cattleack Barbeque
You’ll often wait in line for barbecue at Cattleack, but it’ll be worth it: Pitmaster Andrew Castelan is serving some of the best ‘cue in North Texas. Founder Todd David, who sold the business to Castelan a few years back, is still remembered in the Toddfather sandwich, piled with brisket, pulled pork, sausage and slaw. We always look to the weekly feature, as Cattleack usually knocks it out of the park with specials like pastrami beef ribs and smoked bologna.
Cattleack Barbeque is at 13628 Gamma Road, Dallas/Farmers Branch.
Gemma
A glow-up on Gemma’s 10th birthday transformed it from a fancy-seeming date-night spot to a neighborhood bistro. When Gemma was then honored in 2024 with a Bib Gourmand, it cemented the Henderson Avenue restaurant as a charming place you shouldn’t save for special occasions.
Gemma is at 2323 N. Henderson Ave., Dallas.
Goldee’s Barbecue
For the second consecutive year, Fort Worth gem Goldee’s Barbecue received Michelin’s value award, a Bib Gourmand. The out-of-the-way restaurant is certainly worth the drive, as its young pitmasters are serving up some of the best smoked meat in the state — and mentoring others while they’re at it. One of Goldee’s proteges, Chuck Charnichart of Barbs-B-Q, was honored with Michelin’s Young Chef Award, showing just how influential the Fort Worth team has been across Texas.
4645 Dick Price Road, Fort Worth.
Lucia
Husband-wife team David and Jennifer Uygur are bringing a taste of Italy to Dallas’ Bishop Arts District. Diners would be crazy to miss the chef’s choice salumi and the house-made pastas. But lean in to any of the new dishes, as the menu changes regularly and favorites don’t always last. Lucia was honored as a Bib Gourmand in 2024, a strange distinction for a restaurant that is fine enough to cost $100 per person or more.
Lucia is at 287 N. Bishop Ave., Dallas.
Mot Hai Ba
We wish chef Peja Krstic’s French-Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas’ Lakewood would remain a secret. It’s situated in an old house, and diners might feel like they’ve stumbled into one of the best little dinner parties in town. It’s easy to keep spending down by opting for bánh bao, stuffed leeks and a bowl of Krstic’s famous garlic noodles. Or, go big and you won’t be sorry, with shaking beef, short ribs and duck served two ways.
Mot Hai Ba is at 6047 Lewis St., Dallas.
Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen
Ngon is a female-led kitchen serving Vietnamese street food in the heart of East Dallas, where owner Carol Nguyen is making the recipes passed down from her mom and grandmother. Michelin praised it in 2024 for its “nourishing phở, flavor-packed spring rolls, and delicately spiced curries.” Happily, some of its dishes cost just $10.
Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen is at 1907 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
Nonna
In 2024, Michelin noted how unassuming Italian restaurant Nonna was. “You could drive right past this place,” the company said last year, “but keep an eye out for the blind-covered windows emblazoned with ‘nonna’ to avoid missing out.” Of course, Dallas regulars would never miss this gem of a restaurant situated at the south end of Highland Park. The white clam pie and lobster ravioli are a few favorites, but loyalists will tell you: It’s tough to go wrong.
Nonna is at 4115 Lomo Alto Drive, Dallas.
